We Are Going To Paris! What Are We Wearing?

Okay girlies! Here are my TOP contenders for a summer château wedding in Paris. I’m on a budget, but I wanna look like THAT girl. I want to look expensive, but I don’t actually want to be be expensive you get me? So anyways there are two parts to an outfit. There is the outfit and there is the woman. They play off of each other. How I feel wearing the outfit is what MAKES the outfit. I’m going to walk you guys through my thought process. Oh and mind you I tried to reach out to a young stylist of color … no luck, so I had to do it myself.

STEP ONE: UNDERSTANDING BODY TYPE

Understanding my body type. Now there are 100 million SEO driven quizzes, but I think its easier just to go on Pinterest then compare and contrast images of other celebrities. I have broad shoulders, the tiniest waist, and voluptuous hips i.e and hourglass figure. This is the first shape chart. The second body chart suggests a few dress options.

STEP TWO: DECIDING ON DRESS SHAPE

Dress One (Brown) An A-line shaped dress is cut close at waist and gradually widens from waistline to floor. This dress is from Gianna.

Dress Two (Turquoise) An empire waist dress is a dress with a fitted bodice that drapes out under the bustline, rather than at the natural waistline. This dress is from Modsens.

Dress Three (Green) What Is a Sheath Dress? Like the sheath of a sword, sheath dresses are form-fitting at every point—from your bodice to your hips to your hem. This dress is from Caelinyc.

Dress Four (Sage) A ball gown, ballgown or gown is a type of evening gown worn to a ball or a formal event. Most versions are cut off the shoulder with a low décolletage, exposed arms, and long bouffant styled skirts. This dress is from Shopluu.

Dress Five (Wan Blue) The mermaid style is characterized by a fitted silhouette that hugs the body from the chest down to the knees or mid-thighs, where the skirt flares out into a dramatic mermaid “tail”. This dress is from Zapakasa.

Long story short, I would Ideally like a strapless mermaid shaped crochet dress.

STEP THREE: DECIDING ON COLOR

Now there are a couple of events for the weekend. There is a sun set yacht party etc. etc., but here is the kicker… when you think summer is Paris you think pastels, but its an evening wedding!! I didn’t know it was at night so I advised my boyfriend to buy a custom made Wan Blue suit, which he still wants to wear so my only option is to go with a cream even though I would’ve much preferred black. The down side about cream is that you don’t know how close it’ll be to white when you are shopping online… and if someone wore white on my wedding I’d have security escort them to the nearest exit.

STEP FOUR: narrowing DOWN BRANDS

This is the hard part. Online shopping for such an event is already incredibly difficult, but doing it while overseas sucks even more. I’m in Costa Rica now, need to ship the dress to Germany, and have it in time ready for France.

The first brand I’m considering is Lichi. The vibes of this German brand are classy and adult chic. The issue is I have hips and a butt. Dresses that don’t have some kind of stretch just won’t fit properly and dresses that have stretch tend to look cheap. There are two dresses I am considering from Lichi: Dress 1 for the sunset yacht and dress 2 for the wedding.

The second brand I am considering (even though I really shouldn’t be) is House of CB. The vibes truly range, but I am specifically looking for a maxi dress so I really didn’t dwell on the site. The first dress is cute, but for a $300 price tag it’s giving Windsor. The second dress is actually really doing it for me, I just hate that my boyfriend is wearing this baby blue shade… I’m not trying to look like a cotton candy baby shower at a grown and sexy event. The third dress is cool, I just don’t think they chose the right model for the dress. The dress looks scrunched and it makes the model look 5”2. I wanna look like an Amazonian warrior. I wanna look tall!!

CONCLUSION

Four steps left me with four finalist. Which one will I be wearing to the Paris wedding?? Stay tuned, I’ll be doing a dress reveal early August. I’ll only be in Paris for a couple of days so I’m going to start planning 3-4 day itineraries and share what that looks likes using a travel journal!! I know this blog post is different, but I explained everything in last weeks post A New Chapter so head over to check it out. See you next week girlies!!🫶🏾

One response to “We Are Going To Paris! What Are We Wearing?”

  1. […] Cutting out drama was critical; not just when it came to my friends, but also when it came to the media I was consuming. Shows like Bad Girls Club, Love and Hip Hop, or the Kardashians were disrupting my peaceful thoughts. The constant back and forth, manipulations, physical fighting, etc., gave me a sensory overload and a pessimistic outlook on people’s intentions. I focused on media that aligned me with what I envisioned for myself. Things like House Tours, A Day in the Life, Travel Vlogs, Cooking Shows, or educational content. The media I consumed played a major role in the type of thoughts I had throughout the day, and it was my thoughts that laid the foundation for my reality. Yes, I am not living the life that I eventually want for myself, but I am living the life I used to pray for. […]
