Here is what my basic day-to-day in New York City looks like. For some reason vloggers had me thinking my day was going to be jam packed with aesthetic entertainment, but I can safely say that t’was definitely not. I had some of the most unforgettable moments here and I wouldn’t trade these past five months for the world.

So I spent the last four-ish months in New York City. I had some friends in the city, but because I was doing the program through my university, I had a more extensive network while I was there. I was pursing a marketing internship and going to school and later even got a job at some high- end restaurants which will be covered in later posts!
Now hear me out, I loved the city and I loved my experiences, but New York during a global pandemic is not the move. Imagine being in the city that never sleeps while it's sleeping. It's great, but you just walk around feeling like there is something missing.

Any who, I'm absolutely convinced that New York City has the best people in the entire world. My natural personality blended well with the city. I lived far North in Harlem, 141st. My school was deep in Manhattan, 44th (right off of time square). My friends lived in Brooklyn, the Prospect Park area. I definitely did a lot of bouncing around and used the Subway pretty much every day. Oh, this may or may not be TMI, but my waxing spot was in the Upper East Side so I spent some time around there every so often.
My day
It starts at 7:00AM EST. If I can wake up and get going at this time I can take anything the world wants to through at me. I pack my things the night before, so that when I wake up I can slip into my gym leggings, pop in my contacts, brush my teeth, and head out. I have actually loved this playlist for such a long time. I love quiet and dim mornings so that my brain can begin to organize my tasks and goals for the day. 10/10 recommend. Just hit play while reading the rest of this post. To whoever made this playlist, it’s amazing, thank you.

By 8:45AM EST I finished my work out and am on the subway heading to “the office” i.e my school building. Reading on the subway was one of my favorite pass-times, especially if I was on my way to Brooklyn because the views are A-1. At the time I was reading The Four Agreements. The book was so insightful; it was a quick read, but definitely has to be read more than once. Once I get into the city, I grab a bite of breakfast and get ready to start work. 9:30AM EST hits and the work day begins. During this semester I was a marketing intern for a company in Brooklyn. I was part-time, but I worked in seven hour chunks. This part of the day was honestly boring. I did basic intern stuff, which meant most of the time I did research for the company for hours on end. This part takes up the most of my day, I take coffee breaks and a lunch break, but that’s really it.
At 4:30PM EST I’m off and start prepping for class. Any last minute quizzes and/or assignments I have get finished up. This part of the day is pretty laxed. I check my email, all my socials, and if i’m being transparent i’ll scroll on Tiktok for an unhealthy period of time. At this point 6:00PM EST comes around and its class time. I loved my classes in NY so I was really engaged 99% of the time. Class ends at 9:00PM EST and I have to catch the subway back home. Once I get back I do homework, study, read until about 11:30PM EST and then get ready to crash.

Annnnndddd that’s a wrap! I wanted to post this brief telling of my day-to-day because I think my social media made it look like I was having all this fun 100% of the time, which was definitely not the case. I worked really hard to get the opportunity and worked really hard during the duration of the experience as well. I think that’s just the case when living in New York. I’ve gone more into depth with the logistics of the experience on my instagram so if you want to know more about that click the link and feel free to reach out with any questions you may have!
